Research Realities
Free, bite-sized and on-demand insights from the
forefront of FIE research
Research Realities are evidence-led insight into why familiar workplace and research practices underperform, and what fairness, inclusion, and equity reveal instead.
Browse this short diagnostic series that uses fairness, inclusion, and equity (FIE) as an evidence-led lens to examine why common workplace and research practices underperform.
Each session tests familiar systems, decisions, and behaviours against what the evidence shows, helping participants see where problems are structural rather than individual, and why well-intentioned approaches so often fail. The aim is to build shared understanding and clarity before any attempt is made to fix the problem.

Key outcomes
After a Research Realities session, participants will:
- Understand why a recurring frustration in their work keeps reappearing, despite effort and good intent.
- Be able to explain that problem in systemic terms, using a fairness, inclusion, and equity lens.
- Feel clearer about what is not worth fixing at an individual level, and why current approaches are failing.
- Participants should leave thinking: This explains why what I’ve been doing hasn’t worked.”
